Employee Handbook North East. It is good practice to issue employee handbooks to every new starter alongside their employment contract. It’s a good introduction to the company, what they can expect from you as well as what you expect from them.
Employee Handbooks are also a useful go-to guide for managers and employees alike.
North East Businesses: What should an employee handbook contain?
A North East Employee Handbook should introduce a new starter to the company and should contain all the information an employee may need to refer to throughout their employment.
This includes:
- What to expect in their first few weeks
- An overview of the terms and conditions of their employment
- New starter documentation required
- Training and Development
- How performance will be managed
- Company specific rules
- Key expectations
- All HR policies and procedures
North East Employee Handbook – Key Expectations
Your employee handbook should outline key behaviours expected of employees. In other words, how you expect your employees to demonstrate your company values. It is useful to define this within the context of a competency framework.
Should Policies and Procedures be included in the handbook?
It’s up to you. Personally, I like one pdf document containing everything my clients and their employees need to know that is a searchable point of reference. However, you could have a separate policies and procedures manual.
What else do I need to consider?
Your handbook should be regularly reviewed in line with employment law changes to ensure compliance. Any updates need to be communicated widely, and more complex policies and procedures may require further training.
