Working Well With Others

1 Lesson

This course is designed to help employees understand how their behaviour and communication are experienced by others at work, and why this matters for effective working relationships.

Through practical, psychologically informed content, learners explore the difference between intent and impact, common workplace blind spots, and how assumptions, tone and defensiveness can unintentionally create tension. The course focuses on recognising patterns of behaviour rather than isolated incidents, encouraging reflection and increased self-awareness.

Learners are guided to make small, realistic adjustments to how they communicate, respond to feedback and support colleagues, without changing who they are. The emphasis is on professional behaviour, accountability and effectiveness, rather than blame or personality.

By the end of the course, employees will have a clearer understanding of their professional impact, improved awareness of how others experience them, and practical actions they can apply immediately to strengthen working relationships and reduce conflict at work.

Who This Course Is For

This course is suitable for employees at any level whose role involves working closely with others and where effective communication and professional behaviour are essential.

It is particularly valuable for:

  • Employees who are technically capable but experience difficulties in how they come across to colleagues

  • Individuals who are often described as direct, blunt or abrupt, where intent is positive but impact is negative

  • People who are surprised by feedback or struggle to recognise how their behaviour affects others

  • Employees who become defensive when feedback is raised, focusing on intent rather than impact

  • Team members whose communication style is creating tension or misunderstandings

  • Specialists or managers promoted for expertise who need to strengthen their people impact
