Whistleblowing at Work: Employer Responsibilities & Safe Speak-Up Culture

1 Lesson

This course helps employers and managers understand how to handle whistleblowing disclosures lawfully and constructively. You’ll learn what qualifies as whistleblowing under UK law, what your legal obligations are under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA), and the consequences of getting it wrong. We’ll also look at how to create a culture where employees feel confident to speak up, protecting both individuals and the organisation.

By the end of this module, you’ll know how to:
✅ Identify qualifying disclosures and differentiate them from grievances
✅ Respond lawfully and sensitively to whistleblowing concerns
✅ Avoid victimisation and retaliation risks
✅ Investigate concerns fairly and maintain confidentiality
✅ Reduce legal, financial, and reputational exposure through good practice
